Wow! where have the last few months gone?! I must apologise for being so absent, work seems to get in the way of most things at the moment and I can’t get the app to upload my photo’s so I have to wait until I am at my computer which is not very often at all.
I’ve taken part in a couple of swaps on instagram over the last few months, they’ve been really fun and it’s been good to see the reactions of my swap partners on instagram when they receive what I have made. The first swap I did was the #pusheencraftswap it was really good fun, although my cushion did not go to plan at all and the first few attempts were binned! I was following a hama bead chart and trying to crochet it, but I just couldn’t get my stitches to line up and it was annoying the hell out of me as well!!
these were my first two attempts and they just looked rubbish!! so here is the finished swap items.. I’m so happy with the way everything turned out. I did a cross stitch, and the cushion picture was cross stitched onto the crocheted cover. I also got a pusheen ring and sent some chocolate and crisps too!
The next swap I took part in was the #darksideswap this was a really interesting one to do, and when I got my swap partners form I had to really think about what I was going to make. I knew I wanted to do a cross stitch of some sort as I couldn’t think of what to crochet that fitted in with her interests etc. Her favourite quote was a hamlet quote, so I decided to cross stitch that, I bought some navy even weave and used satin thread… really not a good combination. I don’t recommend satin thread at all!!!! I wanted to do the whole quote but the font pattern I picked proved to be quite big.
I’m happy with what I did, but I wanted to send more extras but the book took up most of my budget and it was quite heavy as well which bumped the cost up to get it to America.
Have you done any craft swaps? I would love to see what you have made for them or if you know of any more coming up.
Jen
