Hobbies are great distractions from the worries and troubles that plague daily living

I love finding new crafts to try and I’m always scouring Pinterest for new things to try. Lately I have developed an infatuation with Macrame. It’s so simple but like crochet and knitting the versatility of it and what you can end up with is amazing!

I started off with a wall hanging, I bought the pattern from Etsy and I had to spend so much time watching you tube videos so that I could get my head round alllll the knots!

I then tried the plant hanger and learnt some different knots. I did a couple of key rings and then tired the flower coaster. I watched some really good YouTube videos as well as I’m much more of a visual learner. The mandala type wallhanging I made up myself using a YouTube video as inspiration and adapting it slightly.

Now that I have got the hang of it, I have to say it is up there as one of my favourite crafts to do. I’ve found that now I can remember the knots, it’s actually really relaxing and as most of the patterns I’ve been doing use the same type of knots it’s nice and repetitive like crochet and knitting which makes it perfect for when you want to wind down.

Expect to see some tutorials coming to the blog soon and craft kits with patterns coming to the shop.

If you’ve done macrame before what’s been your favourite thing to make? I’d love to hear about it.
