We love baking in this house and bear is finally at an age where he can do more than just pouring the ingredients in a bowl and can help mix and chop ingredients. It might be messier and take longer but he loves it and it’s all about building experiences!

So here is our recipe for our scones. Yummy!

Pre-heat the oven to 180c.

You will need:

  • 225g self raising flour
  • 1tsp baking powder
  • 55g unsalted butter
  • 25g caster sugar
  • 150ml milk
  • 25g raisins
  • 25g chocolate chips

Method:

  • Chop up the butter and mix in with the flour, mix together with your hands until it resembles bread crumbs
  • Add in the sugar and give it a quick stir along with the baking powder
  • Pour in the milk and mix until lightly combined, you don’t want to over mix it
  • Add in the raisins and chocolate chips , you could add in more than the 25 grams but we were trying to be a bit healthier.
  • Stir again until choc chips and raisins are mixed through
  • Tip dough out onto a floured surface and roll out until about 2 -3 cm thick
  • Cut out scones using your preferred cutter size
  • Place on baking paper on a tray
  • Cook for 15 – 20 mins until golden

These will keep for a few days in an airtight container, but are best enjoyed warm straight out of the oven.

Let me know if you make them! I’d love to know what you think.
