For some reason when bear was on formula we decided to keep the tins. I’m not sure why, but a year later they’re still in the garage so I’ve been thinking of things that I can make with them.
The bear loves being in the garden this year now that he’s that little bit older which means we’ve been looking at ways to make it more interesting for him.
So combining the two I decided to make a bug house. I made this one, but I plan to make a couple more since we have loads of tins and get bear to help me decorate one and fill them with the twigs.

You will need:
- Tin can
- Yarn scraps
- Glue gun
- Sticks, bark and leaves etc
Step one:
I chose to do a rainbow themed one so I measured out my sections first to ensure that all the colours were roughly the same size

Step two:
Glue the yarn to the tin. The first row I glued the yarn in intervals along the top of the tin to make sure it didn’t slip.

Step three:
Wrap your yarn around the tin and then glue the end down.
Step four:
Add your next colour by glueing it just below the end of the previous colour

Step five:
Keep going until you reach the bottom of the tin
Step six:
Cut your sticks to roughly the length of the tin. Add them into the tin . You want a mixture of sizes so that the tin isn’t too jam packed, but equally you don’t want the twigs to move too much.

I’d love to see yours if you make them!
Once we have made our other two we’ll be placing them in the garden and waiting to see if any bugs take up residence!
