As promised on instagram here is the tutorial for my daisy chain headband.
I’m going to a Glastonbury themed birthday party tomorrow night so I decided to make a daisy headband as part of my costume.
You will need:
- yellow and white double knit yarn
- 4mm crochet hook
- elastic
How to:
Using your yellow yarn chain 4
Join with slip stitch
11 trebles into the ring (I didn’t do the chain three the way that some people do, but you can do this if it is something that you prefer to do)
Change to white yarn and chain 8
Double crochet into the same stitch that you joined the white with and chain 8. Double crochet into the same stitch again.
Slip stitch into the next stitch and chain another 8, double crochet into the same stitch. Chain 8 and double crochet into the same stitch again. You should end up with two petals in every treble stitch. If this is your first daisy then carry on to the end of round one and slip stitch into the bottom of your first chain 8.
If this is your second daisy then repeat until the last treble stitch, as this will be where we join your current daisy to the previous one. When you reach the last treble make your first petal than chain another 8 and then cut the white yarn leaving enough yarn for a double crochet and a slip stitch.
Place the chain through a petal of the previous daisy and then double crochet into the same stitch and then slip stitch into the bottom of the first chain 8.
Repeat until you have 5 daisies all joined and weave in those pesky ends
Get your elastic and before you cut to your desired length you will need to sew it to one end of the daisy chain. I double folded mine over the middle side petal and did a zig zag stitch over it. Place the chain on your head where you like it to sit and stretch the elastic along your hairline so that it feels tight enough to hold the daisy chain in place once the elastic is sewn to the other end of the daisy chain. (My elastic measured roughly 16cm un-stretched) then double fold over the last daisy and sew in place.
Tadah! You should now have one finished daisy chain headband!
xoxo
