If you follow my instagram account you will be aware that I have been making the Rosa’s Caponcho pattern on ravelry. I have to admit I was a bit daunted by this project to begin with as I am by no means an experienced knitter but I am so glad that I decided to take the plunge! After a few false starts involving the wrapping the yarn over and then knitting the row after I was soon flying through this pattern.
My mum had been saying to me that she wanted something to wear when the evenings got a bit cooler over the summer, so I suggested a poncho. I looked for ages to find something I thought was suitable and then finally found the pattern and thought it was perfect, it was part cape, part poncho.. what more could you want!!
I cast on 74 stitches at Danielle’s (A Stash Addict) suggestion and I got knitting. I used 7mm needles and roughly 3 balls of wool of Danielle’s yarn, which brought it down to sit just above my jeans. I have to say this is such a quick pattern considering it is so big, it took me no time at all compared to some of the other things I have knitted. I think the hitchhiker took me nearly two months to knit whereas this took less than two weeks!
I’m so happy with the way that it turned out and so was mum which is a bonus and it’s so nice to know that my mum is going to be wearing something that i made! So here are the pictures.
